Chuang Yen Monastery will commemorate the enlightenment of the Bodhisattva Kuan-Yin on July 28, 2013 at the Great Buddha Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The event for that day includes the chanting of the sutra “The Universal Door of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva” and making offerings to the Buddha.
“Kuan Yin,” which means, “The Observer of the sights and sounds of the world.” It is believed that Kuan Yin Bodhisattva attained Buddhahood infinite kalpas ago and was named “The Tathagatha of the Brightness of True Dharma.” Filled with great compassion to help others, he decided to manifest as a Bodhisattva. Kuan Yin will appear in any form in accordance with the needs of the beings who need his instruction.
Participants could register to the office to receive blessings for themselves or for deliverance of the deceased, or to sponsor vegetarian meals for fellow participants. Please call office for details
