The vision of BAUS of bring happiness and peace to the world doesn’t come easy; it needs great leadership and insights. In the hope of benefitting all sentient beings, many renowned Buddhist masters and lay persons from different parts of the world dedicated their insight, compassion, wisdom, and practical experience to guide us through the decades to where we are today.

The first President of BAUS, Ven. Lok To, a great visionary, laid out the foundation of BAUS. Master Ming Chi (President of BAUS 1974 -1980 & 1986 – 1996), Master Xian Ming (Abbot of CYM 1984 – 1992, President of BAUS 1996 – 1999), together with Dr. Shen (late vice-president of BAUS) took on the challenge and assumed the responsibility of building and serving CYM. Besides the current President Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi, & Abbot Ven. Hui Cong, Others include:

Ven. Jen Chun (President of BAUS 1980 – 1986 & 2002 – 2007)
Ven. Sheng Yen (Abbot of Great Enlightenment Temple 1977 – 1978)
Ven. Shou Yu (Abbot of CYM 1999 – 2001)
Ven. Ming Kuang (Abbot of CYM 1992 – 1999, President of BAUS 1999 – 2002),
Ven. Ji Ru (Abbot of CYM 2002 – 2004)
Ven. Jing Tong (Abbot of CYM 2004 – 2007)
Ven. Ji Xing (President of BAUS 2007 – now)
Ven. Dhammadipa Sak (Fa Yao)  (Abbot of CYM 2008 – 2015)

Also, numerous monks and nuns at CYM, the trustees and members of BAUS, the volunteers and employees in the past and present have all come together and took part to enrich this heritage.
