Introducing Pure Land Buddhism – Gary Link (WJML 10/24/2010)

This talk will cover the origin, history and practice of Pure Land Buddhism. By focusing on the past teachings and practice of Pure Land Masters throughout India, China & Japan, it will show how their individual teachings significantly contributed to the development and growth of Pure Land Buddhism today. We will also cover the state of Pure Land Buddhism in America, its differing practices and its future as a Buddhist Tradition.

Gary has been a practicing Buddhist for the past twelve years. He has been strongly influenced by the teachings of the Madhyamika. Yogacara and Pure Land Schools of Buddhism. He is a volunteer at Chuang Yen Monastery and is also a member of BAUS. He is currently working on a book about Pure Land Buddhism. Gary is the Tax Assessor for the Town of Kent and lives there with his wife Heidi and their three children.
