Ānāpānasati, or the Mindfulness on the Breathing (Meditation on Breaths), is the most popular meditation method in Buddhism. The Buddha praised this method in the discourse: “Fellow monks, if you practice this ānāpānasati more and more, it will calm down your mind, give your superior result, purify your mind and you will stay in a mental state with joy. As a result, it can remove unwholesome thoughts and calms down our mind.” In brief, this technique of meditation can be applied to concentration meditation or Insight meditation. It verily is also a method which can be easily acquired.
