The Four Protective Meditations Retreat with Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi 9/1–4

Over the four days of the U.S. Labor Day weekend—September 1st through September 4th—Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi will lead a retreat on the four protective meditations. The retreat will begin at 7 pm on Friday, continue throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday, and end at 3 pm on Monday.

The retreat will be conducted in English only, in hybrid mode. Those who have applied to join in person will participate onsite at Chuang Yen Monastery and stay overnight on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Those who cannot attend in person can practice at home, participating online over Zoom or YouTube.

The four protective meditations are a group of meditation topics popular in the Theravada Buddhist tradition: recollection of the Buddha, meditation on loving-kindness, contemplation of the bodily parts, and mindfulness of death. They are designed to establish a firm foundation for growth in the Dhamma. They can be pursued either as primary meditation subjects or as supplements to one’s regular practice such as mindfulness of breathing or vipassana.

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. IF YOU WISH TO JOIN THE RETREAT, PLEASE FOLLOW THE SCHEDULE (EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME) AND PARTICIPATE ONLINE THROUGH YOUTUBE LIVE.
